What up gang. Back with the real you know what’s the deal. Man oh man, not the Glizzy Gang. I don’t know what it is with rap cliques not being able to stick together. We’ve seen it happen with G-Unit, Wu-Tang, and now with the Glizzy Gang. One minute everyone is coming up together as homies, the next its all about money and jealousy and disrespect. For some reason fame just always comes with problems that crumbles something good. But how did Glizzy Gang go from rising up the popularity pole, to being all but dismantled and beefing amongst each other? Well, today we’re going to break it down, because that’s what I do and that’s why ya’ll rock with me for it. Let’s get into it.

So, the Glizzy Gang is a collective out of the DC area. It started with the three OG members, Shy Glizzy,
Ant Glizzy,
and Rose Glizzy
in 2011 that were mainly the face of the movement. https://youtu.be/hlsrPUwZBpw (0:25-1:19) From the jump, Shy was like what Busta Rhymes was to Leaders of The New School. That’s some hip hop knowledge for the new comers out there. Shy kind of showed up and took charge in front the camera while the others, especially ant, was calm, reserved. The crew had dreams of making it big, bigger than rap https://youtu.be/hlsrPUwZBpw (3:31-3:42) and their energy felt like young bulls hungry for the come up. An important thing to note early up is where Shy takes credit as the “Big Meech” that started Glizzy Gang https://youtu.be/hlsrPUwZBpw (2:29-2:52) This was an early indication to the fallout that was coming before fans even had any clue.
They were no strangers to the streets and being involved in criminal activities. Rose’s background is the only one that has been a mystery, even more after he would disappear from the spotlight, and Glizzy Gang on a whole as time moved on. Ant was known in the streets on a different block on South East DC, often times could be found posted up in the hood with his homies surrounding him. He was the one taking the lead to get everyone around him out and elevated out the struggle https://youtu.be/KW7Qn4NEIBQ (0:47-1:03) His dealings in the streets are kept on a private level, but he has ties with known bangers that’s really about that life. His credibility got a stamp of approval after linking with now incarcerated Philly gang kingpin AR-AB https://youtu.be/jp1Alsoictw (9:05-9:31) https://youtu.be/jp1Alsoictw (2:24-2:27)
Shy on the other end was living up to his persona. He grew up on the South East of DC on 37th street https://youtu.be/CEn0OUGXcnI (0:17-0:20) As a child he lost his father, but he embraces the same path and respects everything about his dad https://youtu.be/-KwnCF_WQmY (0:05-0:22) https://youtu.be/CEn0OUGXcnI (2:28-2:36) He would begging falling into the justice system at the young age of 14 after being kicked out of his DC school and starting in another with rich kids around him. His habit of robbing caught up with him after robbing a rich kid from his school https://youtu.be/-KwnCF_WQmY (1:49-2:08) and with it was a 2 year sentence. From there his charges kept piling up https://youtu.be/-KwnCF_WQmY (2:43-2:55) He would go from juvenile detention to doing hard time, being arrested up to 12 times, and racking up charges from misdemeanors to gun charges https://youtu.be/-KwnCF_WQmY (2:56-3:21) There was one good thing that came from his downfall, the uprise of his passion for rap. His lifestyle gave him the ammunition to spit real songs about experiences in the streets https://youtu.be/-KwnCF_WQmY (2:29-2:40)
Glizzy Gang seemed like a movement and was taking over. Ant was more on the back end, being the enforcer and protector of Shy, while he pushed his career forward. The two were like brothers how they moved, where Shy was, Ant could be found. No one would have guessed things would fall apart https://youtu.be/goRSWUeMBnk (2:27-2:43) With Ant as his right hand, Shy would move through the streets grinding dropping heat, and that grind started bearing fruit. He was dropping mixtape after mixtape building up his catalog. From 2011’s No Brainer
To 2012’s Law
To 2013’s Law 2 which was already his 6th mixtape
By that time he was blowing up in the industry and Glizzy Gang was on the rise. He was working with rap superstars. Law 2 featured collaborations with Plies, Kevin Gates, Migos, and Yo Gotti. But something seemed off as time went on. His right hand man, Ant Glizzy, was fading further and further away from being seen. Naturally they were moving together, but then Ant just wasn’t around anymore. Fans speculated that he probably was just building the Glizzy brand on his end now since that Shy was up and stuck in the fame. Ant wasn’t a rapper, but being around Shy, and with Glizzy gang blowing up he started flexing his rap skills. His last appearance before really going off the Glizzy radar was his collaboration with Shy on the Law 2 track “Get Well Soon” https://youtu.be/6moRBlAB66U
After being MIA from the Glizzy camp, fans began speculating something might be up, but it was only with his return with a banger “Scared Ass” off of his “Barbara Son” mixtape, which was inspired by his mother, Babara https://youtu.be/HvSRgb23DOE https://youtu.be/9pVPWah7toU (2:17-2:33) did something really feel off. Then he upped the disrespect, layering his verse over the song, “Them Dudes” he had with Shy and dissing him on the same track https://youtu.be/J0LvT_6mo1s
His energy and demeanor were telling of his disappearance to now dropping a single on that type of time. It was a bit tricky though, because the project featured new members of the Glizzy camp like Sincere Glizzy
and Cham Glizzy.
It was then that the truth began to surface. Turns out these weren’t members of the original Glizzy Gang, but members of Ant’s own clique he started, Glizzy Murder Gang (GMG) https://youtu.be/9pVPWah7toU (1:16-1:38) Shy seemingly responded when he was chosen for the 2015 XXL freshman list, dropping a freestyle that many assume was targeted at Ant https://youtu.be/lN1bYS0_V0A (2:24-3:03) While Shy was over on his ends bringing in new members like 30 Glizzy, 3 Glizzy, and Goo Glizzy (Left to right)
Also Taliban Glizzy
And K glizzy
And linking with big time label execs with his team at 300 entertainment https://youtu.be/jinVandRMWI (5:20-6:01), Ant Glizzy was manifesting his buzz and gang and linking up with street savages like AR-AB and his OBH clique https://youtu.be/jp1Alsoictw (4:31-4:52) https://youtu.be/jp1Alsoictw (2:44-3:13)
Later on, as Ant began doing interviews, pieces to the puzzle began fitting into place and the world finally knew what caused the split https://youtu.be/goRSWUeMBnk (1:09-1:21) and confirmed that they all had a part to play in Glizzy Gang’s creation and not simply Shy https://youtu.be/goRSWUeMBnk (3:52-4:15)
Ant would breakdown that he began rapping after being featured on a Glizzy Gang song “Do It” in 2012 and everyone pushed him to take it serious https://youtu.be/yK7SHlQ_jlo Around the time Barbara Son dropped, Ant became the new buzz, and Shy having just secured a deal, wasn’t with it. Ant was hit with letters of being sued and to stop using the Glizzy in his name https://youtu.be/mDO0Fsl_SeM (6:57-7:50) That’s when the issues hiding underneath the surface in Glizzy Gang sprung in the open. From there, it was an all out beef between Ant and his former Glizzy Gang, mainly Shy Glizzy. Ant picked up another hustle in the comedian industry and was doing well for himself, but the beef just kept tagging along. Videos and lives online was popping up one after the next with altercation after altercation between Ant and Glizzy Gang. From Taliban, to Goo, to K, to Yung Jefe Shy Glizzy himself, Ant was taking them all on in a twist of brotherhood gone bad https://youtu.be/4n1zCXydBic (5:54-6:07) https://youtu.be/2wEEvg87jGw (3:26-3:42) https://youtu.be/MQ9euK8uPaM (0:26-0:44) https://youtu.be/4n1zCXydBic (0:05-0:35) https://youtu.be/4n1zCXydBic (10:39-10:54) https://youtu.be/e3C-FVU29uA (0:00-0:30)
Ant would get even more ammunition when Shy would be arrested by police in 2015 https://youtu.be/-PbgBDWJwaI and robbed of his valuables and prized Glizzy chain in another instance while performing a show in Memphis https://youtu.be/T0C7Oa2xKeo (0:00-0:28) This sparked from him disrespecting Memphis rapper Big Mota when he asked the artist for a feature only to be turned down https://youtu.be/su6bDnQcZfM (0:57-1:10)
Right after, Shy issued a series of tweets addressing the situation https://youtu.be/YrdMW8lTvtU Things were beginning to fall out of favor for shy as his lyrics didn’t add up with his actions. Fans began questioning his credibility in the streets. Worst yet, it was Yo Gotti’s artist, Blac Youngsta who pulled up solo dolo to get it back for 10K for the DC rapper https://youtu.be/RWDMdifgsbk
That’s not all, the video proved to cancel out what Shy was claiming. In a video he can be heard bragging that the goons knew what was up and had to bring his chain back, no payment necessary.
As you’d expect, Ant had a field day taunting Shy and his Glizzy affiliates https://youtu.be/MQ9euK8uPaM (3:21-3:34) But sooner than later, things were destined to hit the fan, and they hit hard when the two finally hopped on live together. What transpired was an agreement to meet up and deal with the issue in person, but this was where Shy gained back some points on Ant. He pulled up, but Ant bailed from the crib https://youtu.be/sIxsuolM48w (0:00-0:34) Ant countered with saying Shy wanted to rush out and leave because he was on his way back to meet https://youtu.be/6YMXqLrEsok (14:17-14:45) and Ant went as far as flashing the strap on camera https://youtu.be/6YMXqLrEsok (15:33-16:03) Things seemed to be getting out of hand and escalating to the point of no return.
Shy only took things further by bringing Ant’s mom, Barbara into the beef, posting her video online https://youtu.be/XCfpX6zdnxU (1:35-1:50) That set Ant off, and he was ready for war, airing out the secrets and truths that were hidden behind the famed image of the Glizzy Gang. According to Ant, things weren’t as good and happy in the camp as Shy made it seem. From Shy sleeping with Taliban’s baby moms, to who’s broke, Ant let it go https://youtu.be/YsrCf-7QnYQ What happened next, some say was karma, but evidence suspected it was get back. As it turns out, Ant got his chain took. Oh how the table turned. And get this, Taliban nem was in a video flaunting the chain. From fans perspectives, Ant was down bad to let them boys do him like that https://youtu.be/qymB1E0UJ2I The chain was going on the legendary greasy neck tour from hood to hood https://youtu.be/OcObm6bBxgo (0:00-0:15) Ant’s claim was that his mans, Earl had the chain in DC and he was the one that got caught lacking. Ant states at that time he was in New York living his best life https://youtu.be/1p3aXL3zykA (1:51-2:21)
Things went numb for a while as each had their own set of problems to deal with. Ant would leave the Glizzy name behind and adopt his new moniker Barbara Son, growing tired of hearing Glizzy associated with his brand and wanted it out of his life https://youtu.be/mDO0Fsl_SeM (17:25-19:32) But, it seems old habits die hard when the past has so much bad blood. In March of 2021, Barbara Son released a Glizzy Gang diss under the alias Ant Glizzy titled “Back & Better” keeping the flames of war blazing https://youtu.be/bDm05welOFE His talent was still very much present and seems he was ready to double down on the music scene starting with crushing Glizzy Gang under his feet.
It’s sad that they all started as boys, with Ant valuing their movement enough to lose his life for it if needs be https://youtu.be/mDO0Fsl_SeM (2:41-3:08) But that’s life. Ant seems to be on the up and up, while Shy is doing his thing. The other members of Glizzy Gang though seem stagnant, with 30 Glizzy being murked in 2017 https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/bs-md-ci-30-glizzy-killed-20170907-story.html
and newer member DF Gizzle charged with murder for the death of a 10 year old girl https://youtu.be/okoRzDDg9zo (0:31-1:14)
Only time now will tell where their paths all go.
