London Drill Rappers Zeggé and Reemo proved to be a dynamic pairing when they teamed up for their debut track “Bang” earlier this year. Their independent artist status didn’t prevent them from amassing over 20k streams and garnering plenty of critical acclaim. You don’t need a golden ear to hear the potential in a duo as ardently fierce and unfalteringly convictive as Zeggé and Reemo.
With their latest single “Connect”, which was released on October 23rd, the notoriety they’re set to gain will undoubtedly aid their ascension from the underground.
Connect comes laden with grounded, gritty realism, making it hard not to fall into their intimate introspection which melodiously flows through the energised bars while the ominously light 808s ensure that there’s plenty of atmosphere for your mind to melt into while the lyricism cuts deep instead of scratching at the surface.
From the first chilling note in Connect, the sense of trepidation creeps in, but that’s just one facet of emotion which will be thrown your way as the mix blazes through its progressions offering bass-riding bombastic beats in the same vein of Skepta, Stormzy and Chip.
Both Zeggé and Reemo are Drill legends in their own right, Connect was never going to fall flat, it was always going to offer the energy which only Zeggé and Reemo can manifest when they’re bouncing off each other.
In their own words here’s how Zeggé described Connect:
“This song was inspired by a necessity to make big things happen for not only ourselves, but for those around and close to us also. It is in essence, a promise.”
It’s safe to say, they delivered on that promise.
