Atlanta rapper JID is reviving the beloved “Dollar & A Dream” tour format pioneered by J. Cole, offering fans a rare opportunity to experience his music for just $1 a ticket. Announced on July 21, the “Dollar & A Dream Presents: God Does Like Ugly” tour will hit five major cities: London, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. Tickets are only available on a first-come, first-served basis, and concert venues will be announced only hours before the shows begin, echoing the surprise element of the original tour concept.
During these intimate performances, JID is set to play music from his recent ‘GDLU (Preluxe)’ EP, released on July 4, as well as previews of unreleased songs from his upcoming album, God Does Like Ugly. The EP includes collaborations such as “Animals (Pt. I)” with Eminem, “Knew Better,” and “Lisa” featuring Lil Yachty and 6LACK. While it has not been confirmed if all of these tracks will make the final album, the single “WRK” is set to appear on the forthcoming project.
On social media, JID emphasized that there will be no advance ticket reservations or online sales, ensuring fans have a fair shot at attending by showing up in person. He described this tour as a gesture for “the real fans,” highlighting his desire to bring back the grassroots energy of classic hip hop tours.
For those unable to catch these $1 shows, JID assured fans that a larger arena tour is on the horizon, to be announced next month. His latest album, God Does Like Ugly, is slated for release on August 8 and is already generating significant buzz for its introspective themes and A-list features.
