LSU basketball standout and rapper Flau’jae Johnson recently reflected on her close relationship with Boosie Badazz, crediting the Baton Rouge artist with stepping into a father-figure role after the tragic loss of her dad, the Georgia rapper Camoflauge, who was killed just before she was born. During an interview on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Johnson described Boosie as someone with “a heart of gold” who looked out for her and provided support she otherwise would have lacked.
Johnson recounted that Boosie, who was a close friend of her late father, consistently stepped up for her and her family when they needed help, never seeking recognition for his actions. “If I ever needed anything big and my momma said she couldn’t do it, Boosie would come through,” she explained, adding that his generosity and willingness to help filled an important void in her life.
The Roc Nation-signed artist recalled being welcomed into Boosie’s home, spending time with his children, and being made to feel like family. She emphasized her lasting appreciation for his unwavering support, stating, “He showed me love and took care of me like I was his child while I was in his presence. He’ll always have my respect”.
However, Johnson also addressed Boosie’s reputation for controversy, acknowledging with humor that she can’t always defend his more provocative remarks: “I can’t defend him all the time ‘cause he says some off the wall stuff. I be like, ‘That’s my uncle man, I don’t know…’” Still, her admiration for Boosie as a caring presence in her life remains clear, and she credits him with providing the support and security she needed growing up without her father.
