Tyler, The Creator has unveiled his eighth studio album, CHROMAKOPIA, alongside a six-minute behind-the-scenes video titled “Mask Is Off,” released on November 12. This footage showcases the creative process behind the album, featuring Tyler playing various instruments and self-producing all 14 tracks.
The video highlights several moments, including Sexyy Red recording her guest verse for “Sticky,” where she delivers bold lines about fighting for respect and desire. This track marked her first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, while featured artists GloRilla and Lil Wayne celebrated their respective chart successes with this project.
In addition to Sexyy Red, the footage includes Thundercat contributing bass lines for over a third of the album, along with appearances by Lola Young, Teezo Touchdown, and Daniel Caesar. The video culminates with Tyler revealing the mask he wears on the album cover and in his visual works.
While it remains uncertain if more behind-the-scenes content will be shared—such as Doechii’s verse on “Balloon” or Playboi Carti’s scrapped lines from “Thought I Was Dead”—CHROMAKOPIA debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, achieving 299,500 album-equivalent units in its first week.
In a heartfelt message to fans on November 7, Tyler expressed gratitude for their support, regardless of their reactions to the album. Looking ahead, he will embark on the CHROMAKOPIA: THE WORLD TOUR starting February 2025, performing in stadiums across the country with support from Paris Texas and Lil Yachty.
