Usher is commemorating the 20th anniversary of his acclaimed 2004 album, “Confessions,” with a special expanded edition. The album, which has been certified 14 times platinum by the RIAA, will be available for pre-order in both digital and physical formats starting Thursday, September 12.
The 20th-anniversary edition will include the original 19 tracks, along with orchestral remixes of “Superstar” and “Burn.” Additionally, “Seduction” and the “Confessions, Pt. II (Remix)” featuring Twista, Shyne, Kanye West, and Jermaine Dupri, which were part of the expanded version, will also be included in the celebratory release.
Usher reflected on the album’s authenticity in an interview with PEOPLE in February, stating, “There is a great deal of truth in that album. Did I have a relationship ever that was exactly what I was saying? Yeah, I did, but the reality of where it landed and the expression of what that was about, it wasn’t exactly in order of the way or, better yet, in the moment when I delivered that song.”
“Confessions” was a commercial and critical success, featuring hit singles such as “Yeah!” with Lil Jon and Ludacris, “Bad Girl,” “Caught Up,” and “Can U Handle It?” Jermaine Dupri, who collaborated with Usher on the album, joined him in performing some of its standout tracks during the Super Bowl LVIII.
The announcement of the 20th-anniversary edition coincides with the global theatrical release of “USHER: RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS,” which will be shown in approximately 1,000 theaters across the United States from September 12 to September 15.
Usher is currently on his “PAST PRESENT FUTURE TOUR,” with upcoming performances scheduled in Detroit, Denver, Los Angeles, and Oakland. The vinyl version of “Confessions (20th Anniversary Edition)” is set to ship on November 1, while the digital formats will be available on the same day.
