Kid Cudi Surprised by Ye’s “GUN TO MY HEAD” Release

Earlier in the month, Ye and Ty Dolla Sign exclusively released the deluxe edition of VULTURES 2 via the first-mentioned artist’s website. In addition to songs like “TAKE OFF YOUR DRESS” and “DRUNK,” the Kid Cudi-assisted “GUN TO MY HEAD” appeared on the final cut.

However, the Cleveland native was apparently unaware the collaboration dropped until a fan told him on Sunday (Aug. 25) evening. While waiting for his flight at the airport, Kid Cudi chopped it up with a few of his supporters on Twitter, one of which brought up the aforementioned song. “It’s tasty. Hope Ye drops that one day,” he replied before finding out that “GUN TO MY HEAD” was already out. “Where??? I [want to] hear. I forgot what it sounds like.

I only heard it once since I recorded it when he played it that one time at the listening event,” his next reply read. A separate Twitter user shared that VULTURES 2 (Deluxe) was sold out on yeezy.com, meaning Kid Cudi couldn’t get his hands on the track — at least not legally. The rapper responded, “What [the] hell is he [doing]??? Haha, [I’m going to] talk to him.”

“GUN TO MY HEAD” was recorded on the spot at Ye and Ty Dolla Sign’s VULTURES listening experience in Las Vegas. Fans were understandably shocked to see the pair together, considering their falling out in 2022. In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Kid Cudi discussed what led him and the “Jesus Walks” artist to reconcile. “He [has] said some things that he might not be able to come back from in a lot of realms, in a lot of spaces, from certain people. But we grow, and I pray for him, and that [is] my brother,” he detailed. “And the reason why we became cool again is because he apologized to me, and it was sincere. I was just like, ‘Wow. Kanye does not apologize to anybody [or] say ‘Sorry’ to anyone.'”
