Quavo's The Rocket Foundation Launches $100,000 Grant Program for Gun Violence Prevention in Atlanta

Quavo’s The Rocket Foundation Launches $100,000 Grant Program for Gun Violence Prevention in Atlanta

Quavo introduced the SPARK Grants initiative today, March 20, in partnership with The Rocket Foundation, aiming to assist organizations combatting gun violence in Atlanta, GA. Established by the Migos artist after the tragic shooting of Takeoff in 2022, the SPARK Grants program will allocate $10,000 to each of 10 organizations, totaling $100,000 to bolster prevention efforts.

In a statement, Quavo expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families affected by gun violence. There is significant work underway in ATL, and part of our mission is to uplift these organizations and support them in saving more lives.”

The deadline for grant applications is April 21, with the winners set to be revealed on June 18, coinciding with Takeoff’s birthday and National Gun Violence Awareness Month.

In a heartfelt black-and-white video shared on YouTube, Quavo opened up about coping with the loss of Takeoff in July 2023. The creator of “11.11” expressed his deep emotions, stating, “He knows I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me, and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think, like, I forgot about him, or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes, I cry myself to sleep. I just know he’s here. If I can’t feel him, I just know he’s around.”

Later that year, the Georgia native paid tribute to the late rapper by dedicating “Rocket Power” to him. This 18-track album featured two Takeoff collaborations and guest appearances from artists like Future, Young Thug, Hunxho, and BabyDrill.

Reflecting on the album’s title, Quavo shared, “Just being fueled by my brother, Take, and bottling in all these emotions — all the pain, all the hard times, all the times I cried, and all the times I just made music to pull up and try to play songs, and he’s not there. I’m just trying to get this fuel from above.”
