Canadian rapper Top5, whose real name is Hassan Ali, was stabbed in the neck by a masked man in London while attending Drake’s headlining performance at the Wireless Festival over the weekend. The attack occurred near the festival venue as Top5 was engaging with fans, and the assailant’s actions sparked panic among onlookers, many of whom feared a mass knife attack. Video footage allegedly showed a mob attacking Top5’s vehicle in the aftermath of Drake’s show.

Top5 was immediately rushed to a hospital, where it was confirmed that, although he lost a significant amount of blood, no major arteries were hit. He underwent surgery for what was described as a “big laceration,” roughly 17 inches long, and is now in stable condition, beginning what is expected to be a lengthy recovery. DJ Akademiks, who shared updates after speaking with Top5, clarified that the rapper’s injuries were serious but his recovery is progressing well. Akademiks also stressed that misinformation has been circulating online; he dismissed rumors that the attack was the result of Top5’s prior comments about London or was directly related to local UK gangs, describing the incident as unrelated to broader UK tensions.

No official statement has been released by Top5 or his team, and London authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the stabbing. At present, no arrests have been made. Top5, who is known for his association with Drake and his high-profile legal troubles in Canada, had previously spent time in custody on a first-degree murder charge in a separate case, which was eventually dismissed.

The attack has attracted widespread attention within the music community, with many artists and fans expressing concern and wishing Top5 a full and speedy recovery.
