Saweetie is fueling anticipation for her long-awaited debut album with the announcement of her new single “boffum,” set for release on July 18. The West Coast rapper previewed the track on July 10, tapping into early 2000s nostalgia by sampling Young Buck’s “Shorty Wanna Ride.” Produced by J. White Did It, the teaser showcases Saweetie’s signature confidence as she raps over a Southern-inspired beat, delivering lines like, “Want the head or the box? Both of ‘em / Bracelet or the watch? Both of ‘em / Kelly or the croc? Both of ‘em / My hair, nails? Both of ‘em / Lady or a pimp? Both of ‘em.”

The snippet quickly gained traction online, with artists including Tinashe and Kehlani showing support in the comments. This marks Saweetie’s first solo single of 2025 not tied to any other project, further fueling speculation that her debut album could be on the horizon.

Saweetie, known for her knack for flipping classic samples—previously reworking Petey Pablo’s “Freek-A-Leek” on “My Type” and Too Short’s “Blow the Whistle” on “Tap In”—continues to prove her ability to modernize nostalgic hits for a new generation.

In a recent interview, Saweetie confirmed her debut album is “definitely” arriving in 2025, sharing, “I feel like I finally know myself… I was constantly in this weird transition phase, especially with recording, like, ‘What am I even talking about?’”

In addition to new music, Saweetie is preparing for an international tour, with a run of shows in Australia kicking off in Perth on July 30 and wrapping up in August.
