Tyla Hints at ‘WE WANNA PARTY’ Mixtape Following “IS IT” Single Release

South African singer Tyla is gearing up for a major summer release with her new single “IS IT,” which sets the tone for her upcoming mixtape WE WANNA PARTY, expected later this season. The project follows her 2024 self-titled debut album and promises to showcase her growth as a global, genre-blending artist.

“IS IT” features Tyla’s signature blend of catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, as she sings, “Is it the f**ks that I don’t give? / Is it the men that I don’t miss? / Is this song why we get along? / Or am I coming on a little strong?” The track, along with May’s “BLISS,” is likely to appear on the forthcoming mixtape.

Tyla has explained that her music draws inspiration from the cultural contrasts between South African and American party scenes, noting in a recent Rolling Stone interview that “In America, I feel like the parties are more for networking than partying. In South Africa, it’s literally purely just to dance. Everyone is dancing.”

WE WANNA PARTY marks Tyla’s first full-length effort since her debut album, which featured hits like “Water,” her Grammy-winning breakthrough, as well as collaborations with Gunna and Skillibeng. The mixtape format offers her creative freedom and a chance to experiment, aligning with a broader trend among mainstream artists embracing mixtapes as a way to connect with fans.

With “IS IT” now out and the mixtape on the horizon, Tyla is poised for a standout summer, continuing her rise as a dynamic force in contemporary music.
