Metro Boomin has officially unveiled his next project, A Futuristic Summa, confirming that DJ Spinz will take on hosting duties for the highly anticipated mixtape, which is expected to arrive before the end of July. The announcement was made via a billboard in partnership with Spotify’s RapCaviar, further fueling excitement among fans.
The 20-track mixtape marks a significant shift for Metro Boomin, as he departs from his usual roster of collaborators—such as Future, 21 Savage, and NAV—in favor of an “all-new cast” of artists. Details about the lineup remain under wraps, but the only confirmed single so far is “Slide,” featuring Roscoe Dash. Whether the new collaborators are emerging talents or simply artists Metro hasn’t previously worked with, the move signals a fresh direction for the prolific producer.
A Futuristic Summa comes in the midst of a busy year for Metro Boomin, who has already contributed to The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow, NAV’s “REAL ME,” and Playboi Carti’s “RADAR.” He is also working on Young Thug’s first album since the rapper’s release from prison.
The announcement follows a standout 2024 for Metro Boomin, highlighted by his back-to-back collaborative albums with Future, WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU. Speaking recently to Forbes, Metro Boomin reflected on the competitive nature of hip-hop: “I feel like competition is great for the game. Hip Hop has always been more of a competitive genre.”
