In a recent interview with PAPER Magazine, NLE Choppa expressed his admiration for fellow rapper Sexyy Red, known for her sexually explicit lyrics. Despite the backlash women often face for discussing sex in their music, NLE Choppa believes Sexyy Red has found a unique way to make it fun and engaging.
“Sexyy Red is probably one of the first artists where I felt like she was rapping about sex, but she made it so fun. It just was different,” NLE Choppa said. “When she raps about, ‘My psy this, my psy that,’ it’s not like, ‘Ugh,’ you feel me? It bops. She’s just got a niche.”
The two artists collaborated earlier this year on the remix of NLE Choppa’s track “S**T ME OUT,” which appeared on Sexyy Red’s album *Cottonwood 2*. NLE Choppa has also been vocal in defending Sexyy Red from online criticism, urging fans to appreciate her unique style and not judge her for her explicit lyrics.
NLE Choppa’s Belief in the Diversity of Music
In the same interview, NLE Choppa shared his belief that there is no such thing as a bad song, as long as it has an audience. “Over time, I realized it’s just not my preference. You know it’s not something I rock with, but it has its audience. So, once people realize that’s how you’re supposed to approach art, it’ll be a better place,” he explained.
This open-minded approach to music has allowed NLE Choppa to appreciate the diversity of styles and genres, including Sexyy Red’s raunchy rap. He believes that artists like her help create a balance in the hip-hop scene, providing a fun and entertaining alternative to more serious or introspective tracks.
NLE Choppa’s Recent Success and Activism
NLE Choppa is currently enjoying the success of his latest single, “S**T ME OUT 2,” released in April 2024. The rapper has also been active in the community, performing at Atlanta’s Black Pride Weekend and calling for equality regardless of race or gender.
Despite his young age, NLE Choppa has already made a name for himself in the hip-hop world, known for his unique style and outspoken personality. His support for Sexyy Red and his belief in the diversity of music showcase his maturity and understanding of the industry, as well as his willingness to challenge societal norms and double standards.
