GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Woods, was arrested on felony drug charges following a burglary at her suburban Atlanta home, prompting criticism from her legal team who argue she is being unfairly treated as a suspect rather than the victim. Over the weekend, while GloRilla was out of town performing at the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, three individuals broke into her residence. An armed occupant inside the house fired at the intruders, causing them to flee the scene. Law enforcement responded to the burglary in progress, but no arrests have been made in connection with the break-in, and the suspects remain at large.
During the investigation, deputies reported detecting the smell of illegal narcotics, obtained a search warrant, and discovered a significant amount of marijuana in the master bedroom closet. GloRilla, though not present during either the break-in or the search, was subsequently charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule One controlled substance, both qualifying as serious offenses under Georgia law. She voluntarily surrendered to Forsyth County authorities, posted a $22,260 bond, and was released the same day.
Attorneys Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling, representing the rapper, issued a statement condemning the arrest as an example of misplaced law enforcement priorities. They emphasized that GloRilla is the victim of a violent home invasion that left family members traumatized and resulted in the theft of valuable jewelry. The lawyers argue that, instead of focusing on apprehending the home invaders, authorities targeted their client with drug charges, despite her absence at the time of the incident. They further noted that no arrest warrants have been issued for the burglars, underscoring their view that justice is not being served.
On social media, GloRilla echoed her legal team’s frustration, writing, “Long story short my house was home invaded and I’m the only one who gets arrested.” The police investigation into the burglary remains ongoing.
