Latto Jokes Drake Put Turks and Caicos on Her Map

Latto recently credited Drake for inspiring her latest trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands, highlighting the Toronto artist’s recurring references to the Caribbean hotspot across his catalog. Posting an Instagram Story on July 17, Latto showed off her customs form before entering Turks and Caicos, noting “Drake” as the reason she knew about the islands instead of options like “Travel Agent” or “TV.” This candid acknowledgment comes as no surprise, given that Drake has consistently name-dropped Turks and Caicos in tracks such as “Desires,” “Jumbotron S**t Poppin,” and “Omertà,” as well as his collaborations with DJ Khaled on “GREECE” and “POPSTAR.”

Latto’s summer has been full of international stops, thanks in part to her “Big Mama Takes Europe Tour,” which saw performances in cities like London, Berlin, and Amsterdam. Notably, she recently joined Drake onstage at his headlining Wireless Festival 2025 run in London. That weekend at Finsbury Park, the festival was a star-studded affair, with Drake inviting artists like Latto and Sexyy Red to share the stage, raising the energy as they performed crowd favorites for an audience of 50,000 fans.

Earlier this year, Latto traveled to Jamaica for the video shoot of her single “Somebody,” further embracing her connection to Caribbean culture. Her musical output has also included a collaboration with U.K. rapper Nemzzz on “ART.”

The synergy between Latto and Drake extends beyond travel inspiration. Last year, they released their first collaboration, “Housekeeping Knows,” which debuted live during the Toronto stop of Latto’s “Sugar Honey Iced Tea Tour.” Drake introduced her enthusiastically to the crowd, underscoring her rising status in the industry.

Drake’s performance at Wireless Festival 2025 underlined his impact across both hip-hop and popular culture, with his frequent references to the islands resonating with peers and fans alike. The festival itself was a testament to his influence and ability to bring together a global roster of talent, further connecting artists and audiences across borders.
