McDonald’s has enlisted internet personality Kai Cenat to help launch its new Chicken Big Mac, available at select locations starting October 10 for a limited time. To promote this menu addition, Cenat starred in a commercial that features a humorous drive-through interaction.
In the ad, a McDonald’s employee asks Cenat, “Welcome to McDonald’s. How may I help you?” He begins to order a Big Mac but is interrupted by a choir singing, “What I need from you is a Chicken Big Mac.” Cenat humorously responds, “A Chicken Big Mac? That’s not a Big Mac!” The commercial also showcases clips of him dancing with Grimace during a Twitch livestream and singing McDonald’s iconic “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle.
The Chicken Big Mac features two chicken patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, and pickles on a sesame seed bun. Cenat plans to invite special guests and possibly other members from AMP to his stream to sample the new sandwich.
Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, stated in a press release, “With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans.” He added that by engaging with fans’ passions—such as dupe culture and livestreaming—the campaign aims to deliver enjoyable experiences beyond just the sandwich itself.
