Naomi Sharon, the first lady of OVO Sound, has had an eventful year, releasing tracks like “Nothing Sweeter” and “Goodbyes (Myrrh)” with DJ Snake. She is also set to support Tems on her “Born In The Wild World Tour.”
In a recent interview with Billboard on September 20, Sharon discussed her discovery by Drake and the feedback she has received from him. When asked about why they haven’t collaborated yet, she stated, “I don’t force things,” emphasizing that any collaboration would happen naturally when it feels right. “We spoke about it, but it’s also whenever we feel it makes sense… Whenever he hears something that will be great, then [we’ll do it]. That would be amazing,” she explained.
Drake is known for collaborating with his OVO signees, having created successful tracks with artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR and dvsn. Sharon signed with OVO Sound in 2023 and plans to release her album Obsidian by the end of the year, featuring standout tracks such as “Another Life,” “Time And Trust,” and “Push” featuring Omah Lay.
Sharon revealed that Drake encouraged her to explore different musical styles for the album. He suggested she challenge herself to create upbeat tracks, saying, “I can see you in different worlds that you can make your own. Why don’t you challenge yourself to go upbeat?” This advice inspired her to incorporate a variety of sounds into her music.
