The Weeknd’s “Dancing In The Flames” Visuals Leave Fans Spellbound

On September 13, The Weeknd released “Dancing In The Flames,” the lead single from his upcoming album Hurry Up Tomorrow. The accompanying music video, filmed using Apple’s new iPhone 16 Pro, features the Canadian artist driving a red convertible before it crashes, leaving him amidst rain and shattered glass.

The song opens with The Weeknd singing, “Traffic dies while we are racin’ home/ Melted lights cover the open road/ I hope we make it, ’cause I’ve been chasin’/ Another odyssey, oh.” The chorus continues the theme of urgency and passion: “I can’t wait to see your face/ Crash when we’re switchin’ lanes/ My love’s beyond the pain/ But if I miss the brake/ We’re dancin’ in the flames.”

Produced by Max Martin and Oscar Holter, who have collaborated with The Weeknd in the past, “Dancing In The Flames” was first previewed during his one-night-only concert in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 7, where he also featured Playboi Carti.

Fans have expressed mixed reactions to the single, with some noting that The Weeknd’s singles often make more sense when paired with the full album. One Twitter user humorously questioned, “Why does The Weeknd always die in his music videos?” referencing his previous videos where he meets tragic ends.

While Hurry Up Tomorrow currently lacks a specific release date, it is anticipated to drop before the end of 2024 and will be the final album released under The Weeknd moniker. The artist has described this project as the culmination of a trilogy that began with After Hours (2020) and continued with Dawn FM (2022). He stated that this album represents a creative peak, exploring existential and self-referential themes that have captivated fans throughout his career.
