GloRilla’s Journey: From $500 Features to Stardom

GloRilla’s journey to fame has been nothing short of remarkable. The Collective Music Group artist recently shared a throwback photo from 2021, revealing her feature price was once much lower than it is today. “This was back when y’all swore me charging $500 for features was too much,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, showcasing her growth and success in the industry.

Prior to her breakout hit “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” in 2022, GloRilla had already released two projects: her 2019 debut mixtape “Most Likely Up Next” and her 2020 EP “P Status.” These early works featured tracks like “Steph Curry,” “GMFU” with frequent collaborator K Carbon, and remixes of popular songs such as King Von’s “Crazy Story.”

In an interview with ELLE, GloRilla shared her decision to change her approach to music in 2021. “When I first came out rapping, I was trying to sound like a little girl. I was saying some hard st, but just in a little girly-a voice. It was me trying to change my sound because I have a naturally deeper voice. I was kind of embarrassed because I wanted to sound like a girl,” she explained. “That’s when I first changed my sound. That’s the year my voice started getting deeper and deeper.”

Since her breakout success, GloRilla has collaborated with numerous artists across the Hip-Hop spectrum. In 2022, she appeared on Ciara’s “Better Thangs (Remix)” and Latto’s “FTCU.” The following year, she delivered guest verses on tracks like Don Toliver’s “Leave the Club,” G Herbo’s “Outside,” and FendiDa Rappa’s “In The Trunk.”

In 2024, GloRilla continued to showcase her versatility, teaming up with BossMan Dlow and Real Boston Richey for “Finesse (Remix)” and “Get In There,” respectively. She also reunited with Megan Thee Stallion for the track “Accent.”

GloRilla’s rise to fame is a testament to her talent, determination, and unique artistic vision. From her humble beginnings to her current status as one of Hip-Hop’s leading ladies, her journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists everywhere.
