Lil Baby was arrested in Las Vegas on August 26 for allegedly carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. Details surrounding the arrest were initially sparse, but footage released by TMZ on August 28 shows the rapper attempting to negotiate with a security guard. In the video, he offers $20,000 to make a phone call, stating, “I’ll give you [$20,000] to call this number for me … Aye, security — the Black guy — call this number for me. They’re locking me up for a gun, but I got a license.”
He further urged the security guard to consider a lucrative job offer, saying, “I’ll give you [$200,000] a year. You don’t make [$200,000] here.” Throughout the footage, Lil Baby pleads with officers, explaining that he had a jet to catch and a show to perform, as he was in town for James Harden’s birthday celebration.
Lil Baby also expressed concern about being searched, stating, “Take my pants down. Y’all [better] search me good. If I got to jail with a gun, y’all n**gas gon’ die.” His attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, later clarified that he holds a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon Permit and are investigating the circumstances of his arrest, as Nevada does not recognize permits from Georgia.
Lil Baby was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1. Despite the recent legal troubles, he has been active in the music scene, featuring on tracks like “FOREVER ROLLING” with Ye and Ty Dolla Sign and assisting BossMan Dlow on “PJ” earlier this year.
