GloRilla Responds to Sexualization Claims After Topless Video

In the ongoing conversation about hypersexualization in the new generation of female rap stars, GloRilla is asserting her independence. During an Instagram Live session on August 28, she addressed criticism surrounding a clip of her dancing topless to her song “Mama (Remix)” featuring Skilla Baby and Rob49. GloRilla firmly stated, “Don’t worry about what me and my titties [are] doing. B**ch, I bought them,” emphasizing that her choices are her own and not dictated by her record label.

She continued, “The label ain’t making me do s**t,” and expressed frustration with those who assume external pressures influence her actions. GloRilla clarified, “Everything I do, I [actually want] to do it. Y’all just [have] to learn to mind your business sometimes,” highlighting her agency in her artistic expression.

GloRilla’s body image has been a topic of discussion since her breakout hit “F.N.F (Let’s Go).” Earlier this year, she opened up about her breast augmentation, stating, “These [are just] a lil’ fill-in. They ain’t nothing too outrageous.”

On the music front, GloRilla released her album Ehhthang Ehhthang in April, featuring collaborations with artists like Kevo Muney and Moneybagg Yo. The album includes standout tracks such as “Yeah Glo!” and “Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion, both of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

In June, she debuted the single “TGIF,” which received a major endorsement from Rihanna. GloRilla is set to perform this song at the 2024 MTV VMAs in September, further solidifying her presence in the music industry.
