JT’s Rapid Debut Mixtape “City Cinderella”

JT’s debut solo mixtape, “City Cinderella,” is set to be released on July 19. This marks the first body of work from the rapper as a solo artist, following the apparent split of her group City Girls earlier this year.

In a recent interview with PAPER Magazine, JT dispelled rumors that “City Cinderella” is an album, clarifying that it is a mixtape. She explained, “City Cinderella is definitely a mixtape. People work on their albums for a year. Albums are just different. So, City Cinderella is not my first album, being that I made this project so damn fast.”

JT shared that she had to create the 16-track project while on tour and constantly moving around, leaving her little time to “nurture and doctor it.” She described it as “something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts.”

The mixtape will feature previously released singles like “Sideways” and “OKAY,” the latter of which received a remix from Jeezy. Other confirmed unreleased tracks include “Intro (Hope),” “Servin’,” and “JT’s Coming.”

Although the fan-favorite “No Bars” did not make the final cut of “City Cinderella,” JT expressed how meaningful the track was to her, especially after the underwhelming sales of City Girls’ previous album “RAW.” She shared, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s f**king over,’ and then ‘No Bars’ went viral again. That song got me through a lot. It will always be so special to me.”

To support the release of “City Cinderella,” JT has announced a 21-stop tour kicking off on August 20 in Kansas City, Missouri. The tour will hit cities across the U.S., including New York, Atlanta, and Dallas, though no supporting acts have been confirmed yet.
