GloRilla Opens Up About Missing the Simple Life Before Fame

GloRilla has admitted that she sometimes misses the simpler life she had before achieving fame with her breakout hit “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” and its follow-up “Tomorrow 2”.

In a VIBE cover story, the Memphis rapper reflected on the changes she’s experienced, acknowledging that “Everybody, we grow. Nobody is the same person they was.” She explained, “In order to grow, you got to change. And in order to excel, you have to grow. I’m not the same person I was when I was a little girl because I’m not a little girl. I’m grown, you feel me?”

One aspect of her old life that GloRilla says she misses is being treated like a “regular person” by her family and friends. “Now, sometimes, family will treat you like a celebrity. You can’t go around without everybody wanting a picture or something. You just want to be a regular person sometimes,” she shared.

GloRilla’s sentiments echo those of her cousin, Lil Uzi Vert, who hinted in 2023 that they may step away from music altogether after their final album, saying they would “give up all the money and perks” to live a “perfectly normal life”.

Despite her nostalgia for her pre-fame days, GloRilla has continued to find success, releasing her project “Ehhthang Ehhthang” in April which featured collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Moneybagg Yo and others. She’s also seen her single “TGIF” earn praise from Rihanna. But the rapper’s reflections show that the trappings of stardom can come at a personal cost.
