GloRilla recently expressed frustration with Universal Music Group (UMG) for removing her catalog from TikTok, hindering her ability to promote her music on the popular platform. In a video, she voiced her disappointment, stating, “I cannot use TikTok to promote my music. I am mad y’all cannot make TikToks to my music mane. I am mad about that.”
On April 5, GloRilla released her sophomore album, “Ehhthang Ehhthang,” featuring collaborations with artists like Moneybagg Yo, Kevo Muney, Boston Richie, Megan Thee Stallion, and Finesse2Tymes. The album, particularly propelled by the success of her single “Yeah Glo!,” was highly anticipated and well-received.

In her track “Aite,” GloRilla referenced Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and City Girls’ JT, expressing a desire for collaboration and unity among female artists. She rapped, “I just pray one day the bad bches would come together/ ‘Cause Cardi and Nicki on a track would break some fking records/ Me and JT ain’t the best of friends, but we ain’t beefing.”
UMG’s decision to remove music catalogs from TikTok impacted prominent artists like Drake, SZA, The Weeknd, Ice Spice, and Doechii. This move followed the expiration of UMG’s licensing agreement with TikTok and failed negotiations for renewal. UMG criticized TikTok for offering inadequate terms that did not address concerns over compensation, AI-generated music, and digital safety, leading to the removal of UMG artists’ music from the platform.
