On September 20, 2023, a new image of disgraced artist Tory Lanez surfaced: his mugshot. In it, the rapper’s fall from grace is evident. He appears despondent and disheveled, with a blank look and unkempt hair. The famous photo surfaced today as police transferred Lanez to North Kern State Prison in Delano, CA, where he will serve his sentence.
The “Say It” rapper has been embroiled in legal trouble since his violent incident with Megan Thee Stallion. On July 12, 2020, Lanez had a drunken argument with Megan after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s. Eventually, things got violent and ended with Lanez shooting Megan in the foot.
On August 8, 2023, the “Say It” rapper received a sentence of 10 years for carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. According to VladTV, Lanez had the opportunity for a four-year plea deal, but the rapper denied it. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford gave the sentence. The court denied Lanez’s appeal, asking for a shorter sentence, due to several factors, including his non-US citizenship.
Despite this, Lanez still maintains innocence. He recently took to Instagram to give his statement, claiming he was “wrongfully convicted.” His team also dropped “FREE TORY” merchandise, which some found to be in bad taste.
On the other hand, Megan is trying to put things behind her. In an exclusive with Billboard, the enthusiastic artist lets fans know that she is healing and to expect a return of the superstar that dropped “Traumazine” last year. “I feel like I’m finally closing all the old chapters, and now I’m starting with a blank slate,” she shared optimistically. “Expect a lot of rawness, a lot of realness, a lot of sh— talking. Just know I’m coming, and I hope everybody ready.”
