Never abandon your family. Kanye West made a surprise appearance at Skid Row on Wednesday as part of the L.A. Mission’s annual Thanksgiving event where he donated over 1,000 meals to the homeless.
During his visit, he got on the mic and spoke about wanting to keep his family together despite his ongoing divorce from Kim Kardashian, who has seemingly moved on with her new boyfriend, “SNL” star Pete Davidson.
“The narrative that God wants is for you to see that everything can be redeemed,” said Ye, according to Page Six. “In all these relationships, we’ve made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband, but right now today, for whatever reason–I didn’t know I was going to be standing right here in front of this mic–but I’m here to change that narrative.”
He also crtiicized E! and Hulu, the networks where the Kardashians have their reality shows. “I’m not letting E! write the narrative of my family. I’m not letting Hulu write the narrative of my family. I’m not letting Disney write the narrative of my family,” he said.
“I am the priest of my home,” added Ye. “I have to be next to my children as much as possible. So, when I’m out the house, I’ve got a house right next to the house. I’m doing everything to be right next to the situation.”
After realizing how his speech may be perceived, he said, “I’m trying to express this in the most sane way, the most calm way possible, but I need to be back home.”
He continued to advocate for Kimye’s union, saying that he and his estranged wife can be an example for other families who are going through divorce.
“If the enemy can separate Kimye, there’s going to be millions of families that feel like that separation is OK,” he said. “But when God brings Kimye together, there’s going to be millions of families that are going to be influenced to see that they can overcome the work of the separation, of trauma the devil has used to capitalize to keep people in misery while people step over homeless people to go to the Gucci store.”
Kim filed for divorce from her husband in February after seven years of marriage. She has been seen publicly with Pete Davidson, while Ye is rumored to be dating model Vinetria.
