H.E.R.’s long-awaited album Back of My Mind is almost here.
In advance of its release on Friday, she has revealed the tracklist. In addition to the Chris Brown duet “Come Through,” the 21-track album features appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Cordae, Lil Baby, KAYTRANADA, Thundercat, and Yung Bleu. Also included is 2019’s “Slide” with YG and the Bryson Tiller-assisted “I Can Have It All,” which also appears on DJ Khaled’s album Khaled Khaled.
The 23-year-old Grammy and Oscar winner previously released a series of EPs and compilations including 2017’s H.E.R. and 2019’s I Used to Know Her.
“I didn’t wanna pull out all my tricks at once,” H.E.R. told Variety. “My first few [releases] were just a small piece of who I am musically, and it was a matter of time before I could reveal others. I’ve always been a huge fan of Coldplay and Led Zeppelin and Radiohead and alternative and rock and blues, but it wasn’t until this album that I started digging into those other elements and bringing them to R&B.”
She recently performed with country singer Chris Stapleton at the CMT Music Awards and was in the studio with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. “Next she might want to do a rock album,” teased her manager, Jeff Robinson. “She’s genre-less and wants to stay that way.”
