Drake’s family will be front and center when he accepts the Artist of the Decade Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
Production sources tell TMZ that Drake’s mother Sandra Graham, who rarely makes a public appearance, will be in attendance as her son accepts the honor at Sunday’s show.
Additionally, Drake’s son, Adonis, will be watching his father take home the prestigious award at L.A.’s Microsoft Theater. This would mark the first public appearance for the 3-year-old, who has remained out of the public eye.
Drake will be honored for his numerous chart achievements including nine No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, the most of the decade of any artist. Previous Artist of the Decade recipients have included Mariah Carey and Eminem.
“Today was one of those days it doesn’t feel real,” Drake wrote after it was announced that he would receive the award. “Waking up to artist of the decade then having dinner with my idol @ronaldisley…”
In addition to being named Artist of the Decade, Drake is nominated in seven categories at Sunday’s show, including Top Artist. In 2019, he broke the record for most Billboard Music Awards (27) after taking home 12 awards in one night.
Meanwhile, anticipation has been building for Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy. He recently previewed a new song called “Fair Trade.”
