Even Lil Wayne forgets his lyrics.
During a recent interview with Fox Sports, Darnell Smith revealed his favorite verse from Wayne’s “Lollipop (Remix)” featuring Kanye West, which includes the lyrics: “Safe sex is great sex, better wear a latex / ‘Cause you don’t want that late text, that ‘I think I’m late’ text.”
But Weezy didn’t even realize the bars were his own. The Young Money boss looked on with astonishment as Smith recited the 13-year-old verse.
“I said that?!” asked a surprised Lil Wayne. “I don’t know when I said it or why I said it…but I said it.”
The interviewer marveled over his wordplay, while Wayne stated that he doesn’t write down his own lyrics, which often results in him forgetting some of his most memorable lines.
The prolific rapper continues to cook up new music. He recently hit the studio with Young Thug. Over the weekend, footage surfaced of the former rivals in the studio in L.A. following King Combs’ 23rd birthday party.
