Hot off her Verzuz battle with Keyshia Cole, Ashanti returns with her seductive new single “2:35 (I Want You).”
The R&B princess turns up the heat on the breathy slow jam, which she debuted during Verzuz. “‘Cause ooh, my body beggin’ for you / Ain’t no mistake, you the truth / And I can’t wait till we ooh, we ooh,” she sings.
It’s been seven years since Ashanti’s last album, Braveheart. “2:35” marks Ashanti’s first release since 2019’s “Pretty Little Thing” with Afro B. Last year, she teamed up with DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion on “Nasty” as well as Joyner Lucas on “Fall Slowly.”
Earlier in the evening, she faced off against Keyshia Cole in their long-awaited Verzuz battle, which was delayed after Ashanti contracted coronavirus last month. During the three-hour event, which streamed live on Apple Music and Instagram, the ladies went back and forth with 20 of their biggest hits. Keyshia also debuted her new single “I Don’t Wanna Be in Love.”
