Dr. Dre is in the hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm.
According to TMZ, the hip-hop mogul had the aneurysm on Monday (Jan. 4) and was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was taken directly to ICU, where he remains as of Tuesday.
The 55-year-old producer is reportedly in “stable and lucid” condition. Doctors don’t know what caused the bleeding and are performing a series of tests.
Dre is in the middle of a contentious divorce with his estranged wife. Nicole Young is seeking $2 million a month in temporary spousal support and $5 million for attorney fees. She wants a judge to reject the prenuptial agreement she signed in 1996, claiming Dre ripped it up early on in their marriage.
A court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in L.A. Given Dre’s hospitalization, the judge will likely delay it.
UPDATE: Dre returned to Instagram to provide an encouraging update on his condition. In a statement, he said he is “doing great” and will be released from the hospital soon. He also thanked his supporters and the medical staff at Cedars-Sinai.
“Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes,” wrote Dre. “I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
He received well wishes from his celebrity friends including G-Eazy, Juicy J, T.I., and Missy Elliott, who wrote, “Prayers up for Dr. Dre and his family for healing & Strength over his mind & body.”
