Eminem made history by joining the billion-view club on YouTube for the third time in his career thanks to 2013’s “Rap God.” The Marshall Mathers LP 2 single eclipsed the mark earlier in February.
“Rap God” joins the videos for his Rihanna-assisted hit “Love the Way You Lie” and “Not Afraid” to cross the benchmark. The elite fraternity only includes three rappers, as Lil Pump’s “Gucci Gang” and Wiz Khalifa‘s “See You Again” are the only other hip-hop songs to collect the accolade.
The DVLP-produced hit was nominated for best rap performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards, but ultimately lost out to Kendrick Lamar‘s “i.” It also holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, as “Rap God” features Eminem speedily rapping a total of 1,560 words throughout the six-minute song, which is the most of any hit single. The track peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
