Nicki Minaj may soon join the ranks of rappers livestreaming for fans, after reaching out to leading streamers Kai Cenat and Adin Ross for advice on where to launch her digital presence. The “Queen” rapper discussed the pros and cons of Twitch and Kick during conversations earlier this week, signaling a potential move into the rapidly growing world of artist-led livestreams.
Cenat, who previously hosted Minaj to promote her album Pink Friday 2, explained that Twitch offers greater discoverability and is user-friendly, making it easy for fans to find and interact with streamers. “Twitch, in my opinion, is easier for the viewers. The viewers will be able to go to Twitch easier and be able to find you,” Cenat told Minaj. He also noted that Twitch is already popular among artists like DDG and Lizzo.
On the other hand, Ross highlighted Kick’s flexible content guidelines and the freedom it offers creators. “With Kick, you’re able to say more and do more in terms of not getting banned. You can say whatever you want, basically,” he explained, adding that the platform allows for a more relaxed streaming schedule.
Minaj, who has a history of digital engagement—including a memorable 2009 Ustream session with Soulja Boy—appears to be weighing her options carefully. If she moves forward, she would be among the first major rappers to embrace livestreaming in the casual, interactive style that has become popular in recent years.
While Minaj’s musical output has been quieter this year, with a recent appearance on Lil Wayne’s “Banned From NO (Remix),” her interest in livestreaming suggests she’s looking for new ways to connect with fans and expand her digital footprint.
