Las Vegas is Changing the Recording Studio Industry

Most people think of Las Vegas as a place to see entertainment, but many are unaware of the music production scene happening just off the strip.  Not only do those performing in Las Vegas need a recording studio but increasing entertainers from out of town are coming in to take advantage of the quality of engineering talent and equipment available in the area.

Music studios in Las Vegas are seeing a surge in what might be called music recording tourism.  Las Vegas attracts visitors of all ages and interests, but one growing segment are young urban tourists from large cities in surrounding states, cities such as Los Angeles and other musical hubs.  Being caught up in the hustle of everyday work and life at home, many find inspiration after arriving on vacation in Las Vegas and want to explore taking their music hobby to the next level with a professional studio session.

But Las Vegas recording studios aren’t just for amateur tourists, the city’s own talented musicians and artists need access to professional sound engineers to stay at the top of charts and headlining local shows.  Even if not based out of Las Vegas, many of the world’s top entertainers pass through Las Vegas on a regular basis and need a recording studio with the highest quality professional equipment possible.

One such recording studio in Las Vegas capable of handling all comers from amateurs to the highest-level professionals in the music industry is Overdubb Studio.  Created by music executive and audio engineer Dwight “Dubb” White in 2014, Dubb has seen it all and knows what it takes to not only survive but thrive in the competitive music studio industry.  Offering a broad range of audio engineering services has become key to Dubb’s success.  “If your project has sound, we have you covered”, says Dubb, referring to the seemingly endless list of services offered at Overdubb Studio from recording vocals, podcast recording, mixing and even consulting on home studio builds.

The main element supporting the success of Overdubb Studio and other similar studios in the Las Vegas area is the intimidation factor has been removed.  Not long ago, high-quality recording studios were for the top performers only; studios felt catering to amateurs would damage their reputation.  That has all changed today where no longer does the amateur artist need to know someone in the industry to book time in a recording studio with a professional audio engineer.  Today, scheduling recording studio time can be done quickly and easily over the phone and the studio might be located between an insurance agency and plastic surgeon instead of a dark alley entrance with secret handshakes.

Las Vegas has become a pioneer in this new type of recording studio model where everyone is made to feel welcome.  Today’s modern studio is capable of servicing not only the top musical talent in the industry, but also a place for your daughter to record her first song on guitar.  As the recording studio industry begins to open more of its doors to the general public, the musical talents of those who may never had a chance to shine before will now have their moment in the sun.
