Today we had an exclusive chance to interview Paris Richards:
Where are you from?
I was born and raised from Toronto, CANADA.
Why did you first start making music?
I started writing music as a form of therapy to get things off my chest. It was a hobby that slowly turned into a career over time. I always go to the clubs and hear rap music, but it was always Male dominated. I always wondered what it would be like to hear a woman’s perspective on certain topics. Like being a boss, relationships, and turn up songs!
Talk me through your creative process.
I write all my music in the privacy of my home at my own pace. I don’t work well writing on the spot in a studio setting. Especially when I know I’m paying by the hour. Lol. It’s make me feel pressured and rushed. I like to write and practice my performance at home prior to heading to my studio sessions. I always feel more confident to record when I have practiced thoroughly.
What is still your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge in the music game is being consistent. I haven’t been as consistent as I should have been to take my career seriously. And that is something I’m currently working on. New year I will be focusing on being consistent and drop music back to back! So get ready!
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
The music I create is Trap Rap mostly. That’s the sound I go for majority of the time. I love rap music that you would hear in the clubs. Upbeat, energetic, with a lot of bass.
What would you have done differently if you knew then what you know now?
I would have perfected my craft and been more consistent releasing music rather than focusing on things less important. Time waits on nobody.
What’s your latest release?
My latest release is “Look At Me” produced by Dub J. It earned 1# on iTunes Charts in Hip Hop. And I am the first female rapper from CANADA to go 1# on a solo record!
Who do people say you sound like?
I have gotten compared before to a harder version of Cardi b, everyone that’s heard my music say I sound different, and unique. I have a trap vibe. And that’s what separates me from the rest. I have my own style, tone and texture to my voice that nobody else has.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate most with Lil Kim, Nicki minaj or Cardi b because I look up to them and have been watching and following.

Hulda Hicks was born in Brooklyn, NY in the late ’70s, at the time when Hip-Hop music was just emerging as an art form. Her entire life was influenced by the culture, having grown up in the epicenter of the creative movement.
