Just one month after his birthday, Shaun Love releases the single, “Broken” inspired by his depression due to his family’s apathy towards him after coming home from prison and having to sleep in his car.
Born in Milwaukee, WI Brushaun Thomas endured mental and physical abuse from those meant to show him love and protect his innocence. Family members and friends took advantage of his vulnerability, leaving him scarred by the trauma and nightmare of his past. Haunted by the reality of his childhood, he was pushed to a life of crime. Catching his first case at 20-years-old then his second at 25, Brushaun Thomas returned home, but was greeted with hearts cold to his pain and hurt. After sleeping in seclusion in his car, he migrated to Dallas, Texas, adopting the hip hop moniker, Shaun Love to channel the trauma fueling his depression.
Influenced by artists like Sammie, Usher, and Drake that hold a similar level of emotional depth, Shaun Love penned the heartfelt single, “Broken” released on December 7th, 2021. In the track, Shaun Love rips open the band-aid, giving listeners front row seats to the pain that has been welling up inside his heart for years. It details the cruel truth behind his broken family and the negative impact it has on his mind and relationships – both personal and business. “Broken” paints in detail the darkness created by these scars to his lover, explaining his brokenness and depression caused by his abuse as a child.
Even with all his tragedies, Shaun Love continues to forge a path to musical success. His connection to music has seen him accomplish great things using his voice and talent, from being a singer at church showing the range of his vocals, to doing over 50 shows before audiences that have delighted in every song resonating in their ears. Still, Shaun Love has more in his arsenal of skills. He not only writes music, but engineers his tracks at times.
Shaun Love is going to be someone that inspires others going through abuse, and his voice will be that of a new, more loving world. Follow him online and check out his new single, “Broken.”
