D.R.O.S.K.I, an artist hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, has a unique stage name that holds significant meaning. “Everybody called me Dro, which is just the last three letters of my name,” he explains. “The ‘ski’ kind of got added on to make it ring.” But there’s more to it than just a catchy name. D.R.O.S.K.I stands for “Delivering Real Opportunities Silence Kills Individuals,” reflecting his mission and mindset.
D.R.O.S.K.I grew up on Drexel Road in West Palm Beach, a place that has deeply influenced his life and music. Today, he resides in Lake Worth, still within Palm Beach County, where he continues to hone his craft and deliver his unique sound to the world.
Describing his music as “abstract art, hip-hop with jazz undertones,” D.R.O.S.K.I creates tracks that are perfect for vibing and smoking, all while carrying a positive message. His music is not just about the beats and rhymes; it’s about creating an atmosphere and sharing a piece of his soul with his audience.
Throughout his career, D.R.O.S.K.I has drawn inspiration from the legends of the industry. “The legends before me, of course, whether it’s Weezy, Nas, Trick Daddy, I took influence from the greats,” he says. These influences are evident in his music, which carries the depth and complexity of the artists he admires.
D.R.O.S.K.I has already made significant strides in the music industry. He has opened for iconic artists like Trick Daddy and Immortal Technique and collaborated with musicians he grew up listening to, including Ice Billion Berg, Fiend, Vandam Bodyslam, and Cool Cake. These accomplishments highlight his talent and dedication to his craft.
D.R.O.S.K.I’s latest album, “Superhero Backstory,” is set to drop on July 6th, 2024—a date that holds personal significance as it is his late father’s birthday. The album is a deeply personal project born from the pain of losing both his parents and turning to music as a coping mechanism. “I came up with an album making my weakness into a strength,” he shares. “Most superheroes go through a lot in order to become what they are, so this is my way of saying, ‘Yeah, I’ve been through hell and back, but it made me stronger.'” The album features production by C4vem4n, 90culture, and Young Zoe Beats.
Full Circle is more than just a name for D.R.O.S.K.I; it’s a brand, a lifestyle, and a rap group. He believes in synchronicity and sees patterns in his life and career as confirmations that he’s on the right path. “Full Circle is a collective of top-tier emcees,” he explains. “Be on the lookout for the group project.” This collective is set to bring even more depth and dynamism to the music scene.
As D.R.O.S.K.I continues to carve out his place in the industry, his story and music inspire others to find strength in their struggles and pursue their dreams with relentless passion.
