Emerging with a new wave that’s uniquely her own, Scilence is slowly revolutionizing hip-hop, setting her own trend certain to captivate audiences.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Sidney Branch began her journey in life as a child quiet to herself. As she aged, her voice would be heard for the first time at 6 years old, and that was the inception of vocals that would forge a bright future in the music industry. Adopting the moniker Scilence as an ode to the late blooming of her speech, she has been anything but mute in manifesting her career.
Influenced by musical prodigies like Jonathan Davis from Korn, Future, and Eminem, it was clear she understood what genius talent meant as an artist. Scilence was able to see beyond the average listener. Her thought process analyzed every aspect of an artist, right down to what is unique to their career. Jonathan Davis’s dominant dark vocals and Future’s saucy autotune mastery inspired her to find her own intrinsic voice, while Eminem’s passion for the craft and vibrant personality poured into his music encouraged her to be her most authentic self in the booth.
Moving to Los Angeles, CA, Scilence continued to build her own lane, refining her style, and solidifying a sound that defined her. Her tracks infuse psychedelic vibes that can rival the goat, Travis Scott, and her Synth-pop/hip-hop blend is reminiscent of the fabled artist, Trippie Redd. Not only is she a rare find in the industry breaking in a new sound, Scilence is also an established audio engineer that mixes all her albums herself. Such gifted abilities shine in tracks like “Crush” which has 1 million streams on YouTube and features the legend himself, Bizarre of D12. Scilence owns assistant mixing engineer credits on the breakout song off her debut 2021 album, “The Red Cup Demo.” Another notable highlight from the vocal goddess is her viral NPR Tiny Desk audition video for her song “Hollyweird DMT.”
Scilence has since blessed fans with a new myriad of experimental sounds on her latest album, “Scilence Unplugged: The Live LP.” Released on January 1st, 2023, it’s comprised of live renditions of most of her fan-favorite songs and incorporates a mixture of hip-hop, classical, jazz, synth-pop, country, and reggae. Scilence is an artist scarcely seen in the industry – versed in many genres and instruments. Her legacy is all but certain given her already praised catalog.
