Every artist has a sound, but R.I.E’s rare style gives way to emotionally lyrical masterpieces like his latest EP, “444 Hurts.”
Born in South Africa, the artist Riaz Carter aka R.I.E is now the rapper with a growing fanbase who is building his legacy. Known for his mastery of rhyme schemes and versatility, he reflects the influence of goats Lil Wayne, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Tech N9ne.
On December 15th, 2023, he added another solid project to his catalog – the EP titled, “444 Hurts.” R.I.E is an artist with a creative mind, and that gave way to the creation of the name. It’s a longstanding myth that the best guitarists use the frequency 444 Hz on their electric guitars, so R.I.E, being the trendsetting rapper he is flipped the title to “444 Hurts” to create an EP that speaks on different kinds of hurt and pain on every track. Not only that, but the way he blends guitar samples into each song is telling of how in-depth he is at giving fans an immersive concept that gives his music a timeless feel.
Each song has its own flavor, showcasing R.I.E was clearly cooking in the studio with transitions between lyrical and melodic rap. Together they create vivid storylines that make “444 Hurts” an audible movie pouring emotion. With producers Gezin of 808 Mafia, KrissiO, Ocean, and Waytoolost, R.I.E’s unique vision for the EP was brought to life.
