Born in Tennessee on November 18th, 1997 and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Chef has quickly become one of the prominent rising artists in the game. His drive to explore and fuse different sounds into his music solidifies him as one of the most unique rappers today, always experimenting with new ideas and never remaining stagnant in style. His lyricism, flow, and delivery are consistently flawless, yet he manages to make every track sound different. However, behind the musical curtain is a man of charisma, humor, and leadership; ready to connect with anyone and everyone.
Chef has never been a stranger to music. It has always surrounded him from a young age, as his father was a rapper, producer, and engineer. At the age of 9, Chef learned how to play the drums and even formed a band with childhood friends. Upon entering middle school, he discovered his talent for writing and poetry, which he embraced throughout high school all the way to the present day. He began recording music in 10th grade and continued to improve his craft until he gained significant traction on SoundCloud. This pushed him to legitimize his rap career as he started to connect with more industry professionals and release music on a wider variety of streaming platforms. He also overcame a difficult challenge when his children were born, as he quickly learned to balance his passion for music and fatherhood at a young age.
One of the biggest turning points in his career was receiving over a million streams on Spotify for his hit single “Rags”. After this, he dropped “Cute Face Brown Shawty”, a fun, upbeat tribute to women of color. His latest album, Microwave Music, consists of a collection of fan favorites from his SoundCloud releases. His upcoming album is slated to release in January, which will showcase the range, versatility, personality and flavor that Chef has to offer. Stay tuned to find out what’s coming out of the kitchen.
