Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Corey Lamar Bolls came up in an environment that was susceptible to dangerous situations, but never succumbed to being anything less than great. Attending Hamtramck High in Hamtramck Michigan, his skills on the basketball court shone through the competition. In time, his talent as a rapper came to the surface, and with practice, his craft materialized into something that caught the ears of audiences.
Going by the name d3oughboy as his career was on the rise, he adopted his new alias MONG6R after relating with the character Killmonger from Black Panther. He has since continued to reach milestones like running up 5,000 Spotify streams on his single “Slimfast” which was listened to by the legendary Emcee, Jadakiss. MONG6R’s music connects fans to his life through lyrics that express his anger, what he’s lived through, and the environment that surrounds him. His experiences become inspiration for his songs.
