Travis Scott Teases “Mo City Flexologist” Release on DSPs Following Music Video Launch

Fresh off earning his fourth consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with his album UTOPIA, Travis Scott has unveiled the official music video for “Mo City Flexologist” from his classic mixtape Days Before Rodeo. The track, which was initially previewed in 2014 but didn’t make the final cut, is now available as part of the deluxe edition released in August 2024 to celebrate the project’s 10th anniversary.

Directed by Kahlil Joseph and featuring cinematography by Chayse Irvin, the video was fittingly shot in Missouri City, Texas, where Scott grew up. It blends a raw, home video aesthetic with vibrant shots of the rapper’s live performances, creating a nostalgic yet energetic vibe. The visual effort contains several throwback clips of Scott with his daughter and the day he received the key to Missouri City, along with some more recent footage of Hightower High School.

In the track, Scott raps about his come-up and finding faith through the lights: “Run back them summers I caught through the night, I done dirtied the Sprite, I done crushed up the ice/ Who knew LaFlame make it bigger than life? On the come up, I had to find faith through the lights.”

The deluxe edition of Days Before Rodeo features 12 cuts and contributions from artists like Big Sean, Peewee Longway, and the late Rich Homie Quan. Other notable collaborations include Young Thug, Playboi Carti, and Quavo, further enhancing the project’s legendary status.

Shortly after the video’s release, Scott teased the possibility of going on a full-blown trek for the re-release. However, he’s currently finishing up the South America and Australia legs of his “UTOPIA: CIRCUS MAXIMUS TOUR.” In the meantime, the rapper has dropped a concert film from his one-night show in Atlanta, where he performed several standout cuts from UTOPIA.

“Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO is an era-defining project. Leading up to the 10th anniversary of the mixtape and its release on streaming, we wanted to celebrate the moment and capture the energy it’s brought to all the ragers,” said Spotify’s head of Hip Hop and R&B Artist Partnerships, Josh Peas. “As a tribute to the special night and something for everyone to enjoy, the release of the concert doc is the perfect time capsule to tell this story for years to come.”

The “Mo City Flexologist” video is a fitting tribute to Scott’s roots and the impact of Days Before Rodeo, which helped define the sound of a generation. Fans can now experience the rapper’s journey from the beginning and celebrate a decade of one of hip-hop’s most influential projects.
