What up gang. Back with the real you know what’s the deal. Pop Smoke opened the door for Canarsie rappers and set the blueprint. He may be gone but his legacy has inspired his childhood homie and brother in woo and Rolling 60’s affiliate Dusty Locane to pick up the mic

He’s being hailed as the next Pop Smoke, but we all know Pop didn’t survive to really enjoy his fame. Loc’s whip was rumored to be shot up, and now he’s locked on gun charges after surrendering himself. The lifestyle of the trenches is catching up, can he beat the trap known as the streets and not fall victim like those that came before him? Here’s his life and what is left of his future. Let’s chop it up and break it down.
Dusty Locane was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, specifically the 95th set of Flossy Canarsie https://youtu.be/deTwgRO4tgU (0:16-0:29) https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (0:37-0:55) https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (1:16-1:37)
Coming up with his Haitian pops and Trinidadian moms, Dusty Locane mostly listened to Caribbean music like Soca that his parents would play https://youtu.be/7o8POKA1w4A (3:43-3:48) https://youtu.be/RbqXlwWkgTU (14:04-14:32) As a youngin around the crip culture in his neighborhood, Dusty Locane experienced the gang environment from early https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (3:58-4:17) But before he became the a real problem to the opps, he was being a lil menace with man like Pop Smoke who went to the same elementary school https://youtu.be/deTwgRO4tgU (2:27-2:36) https://youtu.be/deTwgRO4tgU (2:53-3:12)
Coming up where Dusty Locane was from, the option really was between three lifestyles. Either you hoop, you go get your education and get a proper job, or you turn to the trenches https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (1:20-1:42) Dusty Locane weighed his options, and the winner came out to be hooping, but Dusty was greedy and also chose a second option, the trenches https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (1:55-2:18)
Juggling the vices of the streets and trying to go pro is a recipe for disaster, and sure enough that disaster came with the quickness when he touched down at Junior College https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (4:29-4:35)
It was culture shock, distractions every which way https://youtu.be/RbqXlwWkgTU (6:10-6:35) Dusty Locane didn’t have the discipline to stay focused and already involved in the streets, that side of things took over and within a semester and a half Dusty Locane was getting into it with opps and was let go https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (15:14-15:51) https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (3:23-3:41)
And just like that, his hoop dream was gone, but the trenches was their to catch his fall. By 17 years old, Duscty Locane was baptized in the waters of gang banging and emerged as an affiliate of the Rolling 60’s earning his name Dusty Locane https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (5:11-5:44) https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (2:05-2:07) https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (13:06-13:39)
Outside was the spot, and Loc was out their with the drillers and hitters, the apes, the woos https://youtu.be/fHP4ZFT0TzM (1:21-1:34) The Big Loc was on the prowl, Dusty Locane earned his new title, The Don Dusty https://youtu.be/RbqXlwWkgTU (23:27-23:37) https://youtu.be/fHP4ZFT0TzM (2:40-2:50)
Locaine made the mistake many do, the moment you take an oath with the streets, it’s a game of cat and mouse with the opps and the law, and there’s only so long you can escape both.
In 2019, the Loc got in a jam, not once, but twice, back to back. The cops caught him lacking and according to him, he was facing crazy numbers https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (23:37-24:12)
It was somn serious, but no one would know until the consequences would steal his freedom.
But at that point, it seemed all good in the hood from the outside. Inside his mind though, he was going through it. He knew he was going to do something big to change his life, he just didn’t know what it was https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (25:56-26:12)
Soon he discovered the thing that changed his life, social media. Dusty Locane didn’t have no account himself, but his mans hopped on live on facebook and the Big Loc was in the background looking like Don Dusty. The baddies on the live was going crazy over bro https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (25:05-25:30) The light bulb went off, he had the attention of the shawty’s, he could use the platform to do somn https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (26:22-26:39)
This is where rap comes into the picture. Dusty Locane was heavy on Chicago Drill, he felt like it painted his life, he could relate to it https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (9:19-9:37) https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (9:48-10:06)
Dusty Locane got on the gram, making his first post in June 2020, and this mans first post was telling dudes he gon Boom em in person https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (10:18-10:29)
Dudes was already tryna test Don Dusty in the comments, but the baddies were in a chokehold.
In the past, Locaine was always in the stu with his homies that rapped, but he only would mess around with a freestyle or two when his mans would try push him to rap https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (6:46-7:20) Sitting in a cell though, Dusty Locane had a lot on his chest, about his path and his future, he had time to think https://youtu.be/7o8POKA1w4A (2:21-2:31) He was broke, down and going through it and needed to step his bag up https://youtu.be/deTwgRO4tgU (14:09-14:17) Then coming home to issues with rivals, Dusty Locane needed an outlet cause he couldn’t catch a body, he was too hot https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (8:43-8:59) So, he started pouring into music https://www.instagram.com/p/CKrTMggnFpj/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Then he dropped all the emotion into a freestyle when he was in the stu and heard a dope beat. It became his breakout single “Rollin N Controllin Frestyle” https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (5:31-6:08) https://youtu.be/ZaNL4YI3wt4 (0:59-1:14)
Dusty Locane was up. The track was fire. Social Media heavyweights like DJ Ghost and DJ Akademiks discovered the track and reviewed it on their channels and they were rocking with the kid. That just sent the numbers even higher https://youtu.be/ezxonChOKDE (3:01-3:12)
https://youtu.be/k6XoeFogBqQ (0:59-1:12) Right now the track is at a whopping 45 mill views
It was green light and he kept with the bangers, dropping “Rolando” https://youtu.be/2bFh8KhDuAs (0:48-1:04) And then switched up the flow to a more melodic style on “INTRO 2 ME, PT. 1” https://youtu.be/gjYRvAMzvsw (1:52-2:01) and the Yung Blue assisted track “What You Need” https://youtu.be/Hi2le5fnQWs (1:00-1:31) In an interview the Big Loc did with Bootleg Kev, he let it be known that he originally liked singing and was even in the church choir turning up with the vocals so it’s a part of his style https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (29:02-29:46)
He caught the attention of A&R at Empire Bobby Fisher that saw his talent and believed in his vision for greatness https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (11:21-12:30)
With Bobby on his team, their partnership was like fate. Dusty Locane signed to Empire for 175K, and within 3 months, his paper got upped to 1 mill, Don Dusty was securing hella bags https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (36:11-36:37) The stu became Locane’s home, pumping out tracks and grinding through the entire pandemic stacking up a volt of bangers https://youtu.be/deTwgRO4tgU (10:35-
Bro went from dead broke and locked, to one of Brooklyn’s finest doing it. Still, his quick rise to success had many pointing out the obvious comparisons to his slain homie, Pop Smoke. He’s had to deal with that backlash, but he never once downplays Pop, instead lifts him up for opening the doors for Canarsie artists https://youtu.be/deTwgRO4tgU (8:04-8:51) https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (3:28-33:58) Locane keeps it down to earth with his response to the comparisons, letting people know it’s cool, but he’s going to prove through his music that they’re not the same and he’s not copying Smoke https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (8:47-9:18)
Dusty Locane was making the transition to fame, and handling the critiques and being more welcoming to fans. He had to learn he’s popular now and everyone that comes up aint a opp https://youtu.be/N5ZFaN9dEDQ (14:02-14:32)
Locane was shooting to the top, but remember, he’s rolling 60’s the Big Loc, even if you’re up, that life always there trying to catch you slipping. Dusty Locane used paranoia to keep him sharp and acting right when he’s out https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (20:34-21:01) And in the off chance he was caught off guard, he had his double MM aka Militant Mind brothers right behind him to step on anyone’s neck that try violate https://youtu.be/8NQGm8ZRJWc (6:56-7:16) https://youtu.be/6WhLcdDYWzs (21:02-21:16)
But on July 16th 2021, reports surfaced that Dusty Locane was targeted in an attempted hit in Manchester where 4 persons were injured.
Reports state that just before 2 a.m., a 15-passenger van was shot at on Interstate 293 near Brown Avenue and later arrived at Elliot Hospital with four people who were injured.
It goes on to say, state police verified the van was carrying people that left the Jewell Nightclub in Manchester.
People outside the hospital said they had been in the van and were with Dusty Locane and others who were performing at the nightclub.
However, Kevin Grossi, with Audible Treats, a publicist for Locane, responded saying Loc was not in the van that was shot.
He performed at the nightclub
and he and his crew made it home, safely, without incident.

The Big Loc gave everyone a scare, but the opps knew better. It was back to business. He released his debut album “Untamed”
And kept pushing forward. It was clear skies overhead, or so he thought. It ain’t a street rapper without some beef to go with the cheese he’s making. Over his rise, The Don Dusty got into it online with rappers like Quelly Woo
And guess how it all came about…of course a shawty. So boom, Quelly was into it with some other dudes online. Apparently Quelly mad that dudes was piping down his girl. I mean dude posted a vid of his shawty feeding him grapes in bed https://www.reddit.com/r/Silkyy/comments/vn66w1/quelly_woo_is_now_structurek_after_his_girl_gets/ (0:00-1:13)
so I guess I could understand how Quelly was heated, but come on bruh, you beef, murk one another, she on to somebody else top. But yea, dudes went at it online over ole girl
Then Dusty Locane peeped was up and commented laughing at the fact dudes taking turns on Quelly shawty
Quelly wasn’t backing down. That pride had to lash out. It turned into an online back and forth between Quelly and The Big Loc https://youtu.be/Es_MFUuc9yg (0:05-0:23)
The Don Dusty was letting it be known he might be industry now, but he still big rolling 60’s controlling. Sometime on his IG, he posted up in the whip with the caption “Snooversk” #llps aka Long live Pop Smoke, as a diss to his rivals, the Hoovers https://youtu.be/Hunx1i3LJFo
But the beef wasn’t over. Pop Smoke’s bro would later post up multiple vids online, targeting who everyone thought to be Locane, disrespecting every pop smoke impersonator and who’s trying to use his name for clout https://youtu.be/eVg-xEIP0U4 (0:25-0:42) https://youtu.be/eVg-xEIP0U4 (1:36-:05)
The Big Loc in a series of response vids set the record straight for everyone talking on his name and then being fake in person, not before calling dudes out for being gay on the low https://youtu.be/66Oai3pcHI8 (5:18-5:51) https://youtu.be/B2YM97oRopo (0:14-1:03) Pop Smoke’s bro seem to take that as a diss to him and shot back at the gay remarks, this time bro was furious, going as far as bringing moms into the mix https://youtu.be/L1VUgzBdpO0 (3:28-4:02) It’s like the beefs was just lighting one after the next the more fame he got. Turns out somewhere along the line, Dusty Locane had smoke with Brooklyn rapper Sleepy Hollow too and Sleepy Girl was online with him saying Dusty is ass and they don’t jack him https://youtu.be/FLjISP-CP0Y (2:50-3:01)
The Big Loc had a message for all his opps. Apparently all of em, past, present, and future, thought cause he out the streets meant the streets out of him and reminded em, that nina can catch a body anytime still https://youtu.be/66Oai3pcHI8 (2:06-2:16) Later on, it seemed like him and Quelly at least squashed their beef and linked up to cause mayhem
The industry came with fame, but Locane had to deal with everything else that comes with it, but it was nothing he couldn’t handle. Until…the real gang spun the block, the boys in blue. On November 24th 2022, the truth about his past arrest came to light when Dusty Locane shared an IG post saying he’s turning himself in on November 30th for a case he’s been fighting and he’s going away for a short bid
Dusty was feeling it mostly for his parents, cause they really did good by him, and worse his pops is in the law enforcement field so it was all falling back on him https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (17:56-18:40) Reports would begin surfacing, stating that Locane pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal possession of a weapon stemming from 2019 and 2020 offenses which includes a mandatory minimum of one year with a maximum sentence of three years.
Currently, Dusty Locane is incarcerated doing his bid. For how long, time will tell, but he posted pics behind bars in December 2022
The latest posts of Loc was in January by Bobby Fisher on his IG saying he’s still in good spirts
The Don Dusty been still keeping the momentum going the best he could, releasing the project “From Da Flu With Luv” from behind bars
It’s still early in his stint, so it’s a game against time now to see if him and his career holds up. I hope so, because bro seems genuine and do be making some bangers.
So there you have it. Thanks for kicking it with yah boy, appreciate the love and support. Catch ya’ll in the next one. Peace up and peace out https://youtu.be/CM1XqzMRKJ4 (34:49-35:54)
