Kehlani has announced the release of While We Wait 2, set to drop next Wednesday, August 28. This update comes shortly after the artist released a full-length project in June. The new mixtape’s artwork mirrors the aesthetic of its predecessor, generating excitement among fans, with comments expressing gratitude and nostalgia for the original mixtape.
While We Wait, released in 2019, featured nine tracks, including popular songs like “Footsteps,” “Nunya,” and “Nights Like This.” The mixtape was created in anticipation of Kehlani’s sophomore album and the birth of their child, Adeya Young-White, with ex-partner Javaughn Young-White.
The upcoming mixtape will launch just a week before Kehlani embarks on their CRASH WORLD TOUR, which will include stops in cities such as Chicago, Toronto, Boston, and Los Angeles, with Anycia and FLO as supporting acts. This tour supports their latest album, CRASH, which features hit singles like “After Hours” and “Next 2 U.”
Kehlani reflected on the creative process behind CRASH, stating, “We made this album in many cities, from sun up ’til sundown, each creator crafting out of pure joy, passion and the hunger to carefully craft a new sound.” They emphasized the significance of the album’s title, describing a crash as the peak moment of experience, encapsulating the essence of living in the present.
