The facets of music and its ever-evolving nature have given rise to a new breed of artists and musicians. Aldamar is a hip-hop and gangster rap artist that is a leader in the new school of contemporary artists. He is constantly pushing the envelope and is perfectly poised to change the status quo of the global hip-hop scene. Born and raised in Manama – Kingdom of Bahrain, Aldamar is making music that is driven by a desire to motivate, inspire, and bring back the core values of original hip-hop and all that comes with it.
Aldamar has been a lifelong hip-hop fan. A true stalwart of GFUNK with the heart and the spirit of a west-sider. He fell in love with hip-hop GFUNK at the age of 9 and despite not completely understanding the language as he learned to speak English later on in life, he was still captivated by the flow, cadence, and the art form. He decided to step out from the terraces to pursue a career in the industry after watching Rhythm+Flow on Netflix which features Chance the Rapper, Cardi B, and T.I. After a jest filled back and forth with his wife, Aldamar took on the challenge to walk the talk and become an artist in his own right. He sat down and penned 16 tracks and he hasn’t looked back since.
He has been observing the music industry for decades from various perspectives and has absorbed the very ethos of hip-hop and gangsta rap. Because of this he is the embodiment of originality and uses his experiences and musical acumen to create an amalgamated sound with nuances of yesteryear and old-school hip-hop. Aldamar has had a vast array of musical influences however he accredits the pivotal influences and inspiration in his life to the emperor 2Pac Shakur as well as Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube the founders of the first gangsta rap group NWA. He also appreciates and respects artists from the South and East side as well. This all culminates in Aldamar producing a musical experience that is enjoyable, easy going but also authentic and grounded in the very roots of hip hop. It is music that is relatable to the era of unfiltered, fearless rap, when people weren’t afraid to say how they truly felt. The hard-hitting bars are infused with energy to allow for an immersive experience that brings draws the listener in, in an engaging and interactive way. His overarching ambition is to become the pioneer of hip-hop in particular Gfunk/gangsta rap in the middle east region and the Arab world and to revive GFUNK/gangsta rap worldwide as the original hip-hop.
The moniker of Aldamar is Arabic for “Destruction”. It began as a nickname as he grew up as a ruthless, relentless, and somewhat destructive child. He is translating that aggression into punchlines and hard-hitting bars, He will be releasing his debut album dubbed “GFUNK Middle East” on the 2nd of July 2023 which will showcase his lyricism in a uniquely constructed piece of musical artistry. His funky sound mixed with groovy bumps and exhibits his versatility and prowess and will surely cement his style and place in hip-hop folklore as well as pave the way for the varied expressions of his musical ideas and artistic craft. This is the music that will push the boundaries of our perception as well as inspire and drive us to introspective conversations. Hip-Hop has needed a new message for a long time and now it is finally here! As long as artists like Aldamar exist and his story and voice are heard then this is the music that may not change the world, but can change the people in the world. Aldamar is the piece of the puzzle that hip-hop has been missing.
