JT’s Solo Debut ‘City Cinderella’ Mixtape Earns Praise From Fans

On Friday, July 19, JT released her highly anticipated debut solo mixtape, City Cinderella. This 16-track project features collaborations with notable artists such as DJ Khaled, Stunna Girl, CLIP, and Jeezy, who contributed to the remix of her earlier single “OKAY.”

The mixtape includes familiar tracks like “Sideways,” which has garnered over 14 million views on YouTube. In the opening track, “Intro (Hope),” JT reflects on her past, while other standout songs like “Uncle Al” and “Lemon Pepper” showcase a more upbeat vibe.

Addressing the absence of her viral hit “No Bars” from the mixtape, JT shared with PAPER, “That song got me through a lot. It will always be so special to me. I’m sad that it’s not even on my debut project, but I feel like it did what it had to do to get me where I’m at today.”

Fans had been eagerly awaiting the release since it was first teased at the end of 2023. The hashtag #CityCinderella generated over 50,000 posts on Twitter, with fans praising the mixtape for its unique sound and declaring it one of the best female rap projects currently available.

JT clarified that City Cinderella is intended to be a mixtape rather than a full album, explaining, “I had to create this project throughout the tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture and doctor it. This is just something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts.”

To support the mixtape, JT will embark on the City Cinderella Tour, starting in August. Key stops include Charlotte, New York, and Atlanta, concluding with a performance in Los Angeles on September 22.
