Since Kendrick Lamar’s scathing diss track “Not Like Us” targeted Drake, the Toronto rapper has been labeled a “f**kin’ colonizer” and “certified pedophile” by Lamar. However, it seems Drake has embraced one particular jab from the song – being referred to as the “69 God.”
On Sunday, June 30th, Drake was spotted bowling with other OVO affiliates, and he had set his player name as the “69 God” moniker. This prompted reactions from fans, with one commenting, “The most bothered ‘unbothered’ person I’ve ever seen.” Another user highlighted that Drake likely knows people hate him, so he intentionally embraces the insults to get the same reaction.
The “69 God” reference stems from Lamar’s lyrics on “Not Like Us,” where he raps, “Say Drake, I hear you like ’em young / You better not have to go to Cell Block One.” This sparked a debate on social media, with actress Keke Palmer questioning what’s so bad about being a “69 God.”
“Now, this is no shade, no tea, but I have a question, okay? Because I know the rap kids. They do a lot of clever little lines, especially somebody like Kendrick,” she said. “[As] far as I knew, 69 was something that just meant you’re reciprocal, right? So, if you’re a “69 God,” what’s so bad about that? I must be missing something. What’s the tea, boo?”
Drake has also previously embraced other jabs, such as referencing the rumor that he had surgery done on the Metro Boomin track “BBL Drizzy.” This suggests the rapper is unfazed by the personal attacks and is instead choosing to lean into the insults, further fueling the ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar.
