Davido, the three-time Grammy-nominated Nigerian superstar and Afrobeats pioneer, has officially unveiled his newest venture, Nine+ Records, in partnership with UnitedMasters. The innovative music distribution company has been making headlines with its commitment to Africa, investing in artists, education, and technology. With this new venture, Davido will spearhead artist development, A&R, and behind-the-scenes curation, nurturing a pioneering lineup of artists under Nine+ Records.
UnitedMasters has been expanding its presence in Africa, launching in Nigeria in December 2023 and hosting an all-star lineup at its annual “A Celebration of Independence” Grammy Concert during Grammy weekend 2024. The concert featured Davido, Uncle Waffles, Tokischa, Donavan’s Yard, and NLE Choppa, marking the first time UnitedMasters featured international acts.
Davido’s partnership with UnitedMasters follows his managerial partnership with Love Renaissance (LVRN), an American record label and management company based in Atlanta, Georgia, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Speaking on the new partnership, Davido said, “Partnering with the team at LVRN was a no-brainer. Their understanding of the global music landscape and their roots back home makes this the perfect partnership.”
The announcement of Nine+ Records is a significant development for UnitedMasters, with founder and CEO Steve Stoute expressing his vision for Davido to build the next Bad Boy, the next Death Row, and the next label that has significant impact like Cash Money. UnitedMasters is home to talented artists like Brent Faiyaz, BigXThaPlug, Anycia, Ekkstacy, and many more.
