Exclusive interview with SwazyTheBag

Today we had an exclusive chance to interview rapper SwazyTheBag:

How did you come up with a stage name?
One of my favorite basketball players to watch at the time Nick Young had a nickname which was Swaggy P and my first name starts with a ‘p’ and I know I be swaggy so I thought it was swaggy p but couldn’t use that for my stage name so I took the Gs out and added zs so now it’s swazy and my friend C DILLA told me i should add “the bag” cause he knows i like money.

Where are you from?
I was born in Egypt but moved to the states when i was about 7 months old. We stayed in Iowa for a couple of years then after that we then moved to Chicago IL.

Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
Kanye West or Lil Baby they both share that determination and drive to do great things and I feel like I have that within my self.

Talk me through your creative process.
When it comes to making music some would say I have an orthodox approach because for me in most cases I listen to a beat and try to catch the pattern then I would freestyle and write it down on my phone if I felt like it was worthy enough to be incorporated in one of my verses.

Do you remember the first rhyme you wrote?
Growing up I used to write poetry and fell in love with it so when it came to writing rhymes for music it was just natural.

What’s the best advice you ever received?
I was talking to one of my friends about being successful and rich and he told me that we all have the same 24 hours and it really hit me and made me think of life differently.

What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
I would say Is this person someone who knows what they’re talking about, or is he/she an internet trolls there any merit to what they’re saying? It doesn’t matter what you do, there will always be someone who finds a fault, especially when you are in a subjective field, like making Music You’re not going to please everyone anyway, so remain true to yourself.

What surprising lessons have you learned along the way?
You have to watch out for yourself cause some people in the industry are not always trying to help you out.

What are you focusing your time on now?
Focusing and working on Dropping my new album ‘No Validation’.
