Fans of Isaiah Rashad, Drake and Mick Jenkins have a new artist to make time for; LA-based luminary, Pharaoh Santana. His latest release, ‘Playboy’, isn’t without its salacious high vibes, but in its essence, it’s a soulful snapshot of Santana’s mentality which invites haters to hate and embraces authenticity.
Tossing stereotypes aside, he found plenty of room in the lyrics for genuine connection with his fans. Since the official music video dropped in December, it has amassed over 40,000 views. He’s an artist on the up, and given the convictive passion found in all his tracks, it’s unlikely that he’ll slow down on his ascent to the top.
With his discography that he’s been contributing to since releasing his debut EP in 2014, you’ll always find a unique and contemporary contortion of hip hop and soul with plenty of lyrical flair. But there’s still no telling where Santana will take his sound next. For that reason alone, he’s worth adding to your radar.
